Thanks to brother Stephen Polunsky for the link! This is FREAKING AWESOME! (I wonder if she’s related to Fanny Ruth?)

Enjoy these photos of the new AEPi house on Rio Grande at 28th St. in Austin!  Great job and many thanks to all who had a hand in it!  And to all who might have a little more in it as the years go by … enjoy!

Friends,

We’re back!

On Friday, July 30th, 2010 at 5:00PM the City of Austin gave the facility at 2807 Rio Grande the occupancy permit and the construction of the new house was officially completed!

Within minutes close to 30 of the kids living in Austin during the summer as well as a handful of alumni in town (including Donny & Amy Greenspan, Lee Steinfeld, Bobby’s son) got to work un-boxing and assembling furniture and breathing live into the facility! It was so very exciting! We also enjoyed the firstShabbat Dinner at the house!

You will be blown away by the new house the first time you see it and the time after that, and the time after that. It’s nothing less than spectacular and an obvious labor of love by the architect, our own Barry Bubis! This facility with its’ state of the art accoutrements, Wi-Fi, sound system, individually climate controlled rooms with ceiling fans (and their own bathrooms and showers), concrete floors, concrete walls, and furniture is a show palace!

Peter Pan was right…. you have to get older but you don’t have to grow up so…. I along with 6 other alumni spent the night at the house and we were up till almost 3:00AM exchanging stories and proposing toasts (with those of the kids over 21), shooting champagne corks off the back patio….. or not depending on who asks! To steal a line another line from Derek Jeter, “the ghosts walked across the street”! I could feel Fanny Ruth in the kitchen and Bullshiter in the porter’s closet. I could almost hear that teeth rattling sound of brother’s trading licks with newly initiated actives. I SWEAR I could smell a FASC meeting going on in one of the kid’s rooms. On second thought, that might have been exactly what I smelled. J

Circle your calendar for the weekend of October 15th. You won’t want to miss the dedication and ribbon cutting! It’s going to be a memorable celebration of almost a decade of dreams and hard work!

If you want to be a part of the lasting legacy of this building, contact Scott Bishop at sabishop@sfs-lo.com to make a contribution of any size.

Broo ha ha and harump! No more Viking…. Viking is back!

Brother Richard Leshin from Robstown was recently elected to lead the Texas Exes… another feather in the collective yarmulke of the Texas Apes!  So I guess that means we’ve all got to start paying our dues again!

The big question is:  will we start getting our pregame BBQ brought in from Joe Cotten’s?

Mazel Tov from all of us, Richard.
